The previous issue of xDev generated controversy as some readers were upset by the lack of "hard" Xojo content (see this issue's extended "Letters" section for a taste of the feedback).

While ultimately the responsibility for content falls on my shoulders, I will point out that this publication is a community resource: it's really your magazine, not mine. I can't write the whole thing. (Well, I could, but neither of us wants that!) That means if there are things you'd like to see me change or improve, let me know. Most importantly, considering contributing. I can't please everyone, but I will do my best to bring you the magazine you deserve.

In This Issue

Today we're debuting two new columns. Kem Tekinay is going to be writing about Regular Expressions. Markus Winter is starting a "Tips and Tricks" column, where all of us can contribute little ideas for better productivity.

This time we have a record number of smaller articles and I hope the variety will be of interest. Several new authors have contributed, with Sam Rowlands writing about Apple About Boxes, Kevin Cully on getting ChartPart working with Xojo, and Bill Kearney reporting on the recent MBS Xojo Conference in Germany. Matt Gardner kindly let me republish his article on making plugins for Xojo with XCode, and Trisha Duke has repurposed her "Smart Tips" XDC talk into an article. I also wrote a brief bit about the latest Xojo release.

In our columns, we cover unit testing, path enumeration, OOP, and more. Enjoy!
