Excerpt: In-app purchases and now subscriptions have seemingly managed to make the situation for developers better than it used to be back in the era of the 'race to the bottom', and part of me is okay with that, because I know and understand that developing a good-quality app for any platform today is no small feat.

But as of late I keep seeing a significant abuse of the in-app purchase and subscription systems, to the point of becoming a customer-hostile and extortionate practice.
