Excerpt of article text...

To be released this summer, Xojo 2021 Release 2 has just entered pre-release testing. I can't talk about specifics, but this release focuses more on bug fixes than new features and should have something for everyone. Be sure to head on over to the forum and download the pre-release to help us test.

WWDC 2021

At WWDC this year Apple surprised many people by not announcing any hardware at all. There was a fair amount of speculation that they would announce pro-level Macs, such as a 16" MacBook Pro and Mac mini that use a more powerful version of the M1. Alas, that didn't come to pass, but perhaps there will be a separate announcement later this summer. Some seem to think that the worldwide component shortages have forced Apple to delay some announcements.

What they did announce, as expected, was iOS 15 and macOS 12 Monterey (among other things). Both of these new versions seem to not have a ton of new features and focus on refining things from prior versions. I have installed iOS 15 on a test device and so far it seems to work well. We will be doing Xojo iOS testing on this version throughout the summer to make sure things work as they should. I haven't yet had a chance to set up macOS 12 Montery, but others at Xojo have. We will also be testing with that as well.

Windows 11

It hasn't happened yet, but Microsoft has a Windows event in a couple weeks and rumors are predicting they'll be announcing a new version of Windows, called Windows 11. This is somewhat surprising as they had previously said that Windows 10 would be the "last version of Windows," but Microsoft does like to change their mind about these things.
