One Year Complete
Though I can scarcely believe it, this issue marks the completion of the first year of REALbasic Developer! We&ve published six issues, and while not everything has gone as planned, and the magazine isn&t perfect, I believe we&ve accomplished our primary goal in producing a professional-caliber publication focused on REALbasic.
In many respects, the magazine has exceeded my expectations, and to that I must thank all the excellent writers, editors, and contributors who&ve made this publication a success: give yourselves a generous pat on the back, for this magazine would not exist without you!
This issue marks the departure of Dean Davis, our AppleScript columnist (page 42). Dean&s decided to focus his energies on other activities. Good luck, Dean!
The Future
As we enter our second year of publishing, it&s appropriate to look at the future. In the long-term I have big dreams for RBD, while my short-term goal is to make every issue better than the previous one. You can help by giving us feedback at feedback@rbdeveloper.com and letting us know what you like and what you don&t like.
In This Issue
This issue&s so packed there wasn&t room for our interview feature! But don&t worry: we&ll have a great one next time.
Erick Tejkowski is back with another excellent QuickTime article (page 13), Joe Strout writes about getting the most out of Quesa, the 3D library (page 22), and Charles Yeomans explains one of REALbasic&s best kept secrets, control binding (page 17). Control binding lets RB do the programming for you!
I wrote the Postmortem myself, detailing writing and selling my Z-Write word processor. I made plenty of mistakes, so please learn from my experience.
