Excerpt of article text...

Today we're going to build our very first iOS app! Granted, the app will be very simple, but it will help you see what iOS development is all about, and we'll learn a few important things about the process.

First, I recommend you read my "iOS First Look" article in this issue as it will give you a good overview of iOS development with Xojo. Next, note the system requirements for this project:

  • you need Xojo 2014r3

  • to be able to run the iOS Simulator, you'll need to install Apple's XCode development software (free on the Mac App Store)

  • XCode only runs on a Mac, so this won't work for Windows- or Linux-only developers

Also important: to do this tutorial you don't need to buy a Xojo iOS license or pay Apple's developer fee. Those are only required for actual deployment on an iOS device and to sell in the App Store.
