Busy Bee

Whew! What a month! In March my book, Eating Big While Eating Lean, was published, I had a wild trip to Austin for REAL World, and I spent the last couple of weeks creating this issue and redesigning the RBD website.

Website Redesign

I've been wanting to revamp the RBD website for years. While there are some new features, this redesign is primarily cosmetic, though I plan to add some additional in the future (please send me your suggestions on how I can make the site more useful). One key addition is that the main RBD home page now features dynamic news, announcements, and recent posts from RB bloggers. This makes RBD a great place to visit for a quick snapshot of what's happening in the REALbasic community.

In This Issue

First there's my report on REAL World 2008 (Brad Rhine helped out as I missed the first day of conference). Next we've got a terrific feature on Yuma, the new REALbasic-based web development system created by Joe Strout and Brad Weber. I'm very excited about Yuma and if you read this article you'll understand why.

Then JC Cruz is back with some major improvements to the spelling-checking engine he wrote about in 6.1 (Nov./Dec. 2007).

And Christian Schmitz gives us a detailed explanation of the various ways to generate PDFs from within REALbasic using his amazing plugin collection.

Our features in this issue are so extensive I had to bump my own "Beginner's Corner" and Charles' "Algorithms" columns until next issue. Sorry about that, but they'll be back next time.

Our regular columnists are here with good stuff on MySQL, cross-platform menus, and the new Association of REALbasic Professionals organization. Enjoy!
